So much love

The Third Space Slowposium and Symposium have been and gone and there is a profound amount of love in the air. All day at the ASCILITE 2024 conference people have been stopping me to say how much they valued these events. I’ve gone on and on about the marvelous contributions that so many people have made in making this what it was - but there’s no limit on that, so, once again, I send out my deep gratitude to Meredith Hinze, Sue Sharpe, Wendy Taleo, Penny Wheeler, Keith Heggart, Elizabeth Black, Dan Laurence, Puva Arumagam, Gosia Drewniok, Maeve O’Dwyer, Sharon Altena, Rowan Peter, all our lovely volunteers on the day, ML Huppatz and ATEM, the ASCILITE Organising committee, Melbourne Uni, ASCILITE and Roger Brown.

I think we did something quite special and I think it was testament to the fact that third space people (and allies) get things done.

Noting that ASCILITE 2024 is on and these are big, full, days, I’ll probably leave it here for this week - pointing out that the full ASCILITE 2024 Conference Proceedings are now available and offer a multitude of education and technology goodies. One of my personal highlights today was seeing someone whose work I have drawn on repeatedly in my own study, Laura Czerniewicz from the Uni of Cape Town. In a nutshell, I think she spoke about everything that’s wrong with the world and what education can do to fix it. You know, small things.

Looking forward to the rest of the conference. If you’re there, feel free to say hi. It’s been great (and surprising) to meet so many people that I’ve only ever seen or chatted to online. Bluesky - hashtag #ASCILITE2024 is also feeling like a return to the early days of Twitter.
