If you're not at the Third Space Slowposium, what are you even doing?

Hello colleagues - well as you can imagine, the Third Space Slowposium is keeping me pretty busy, with more than 50 distinct sections/sessions exploring all aspects of the work that occurs across and between conventional academic/professional domains in tertiary education. This obviously touches on Ed & Tech a lot, so even if you aren’t part of the third space, there is much to be learnt from the perspectives of those who are.

It runs from Nov 15 - Nov 30 on a mostly drop in basis - Register here.

In considering how to capture what I’m learning and discussing, I’ve landed on writing a series of blog posts where I can jot down stray notes on the sections aligned with key themes of the event.

I would like to mention a couple of LIVE sessions that I’m involved with that I think will be pretty great.

Thursday 21st November, 8am CEST | 6pm AEDT
(Re)Imagining the future of faculty/academic PD

Most institutions have a Centre for Learning and Teaching at their heart. These can be organised in many ways, affecting their impact. Join Alexandra Mihai and Colin Simpson on Thurs 21/11 (8am CEST / 6pm AEDT) to learn more and create new models. Register to attend

Monday 25th November, 6pm AEST | 7pm AEDT
Explore a new framework to evolve third space relationships

The work of Whitchurch and Law (2010) and Veles (2023) combines to offer a four phase model for progressing relationships between third space practitioners and university colleagues such as academics from Contestation to Transformation. This session, hosted by Natalia Veles (JCU) and me (here) examines the phases and gives participants an opportunity to apply them to a scenario. Register to attend
