It is rare that we look at how the online learning sausage is made with high quality courses/units but this post from experienced learning experience design leader Mark Smithers lays it out in gory detail. After some necessary clarification of terms and models, we look at what is needed to design and build an online course with high levels of asynchronous, student-centred activity. Having done the work and seen it done many times, it is still surprising to be reminded of exactly what is involved.
